Welcome to our Muggles Market Too Spotlights for 2020! This Muggles Market Too is presented to you as part of SAGA, the professional development conference for genre fiction writers.
Today, we are delighted to announce new artisan The Copper Sphinx! Jenna Sigman will bring us handcrafted stained glass suncatchers and panels. Each piece is hand-cut, ground, wrapped in copper foil, and soldered together. Some items may contain hand painting on glass and zinc or lead framing. Jenna says “I have always considered myself to be a kind of habitual crafter. I feel the most myself when I’m creating art. As a child, I drew the cover art of my favorite Disney movies. As a teenager, I experimented with spray paint and interior design. In college, I drew mandalas and painted murals. I work with glass because it is the most inspiring and challenging medium I have ever encountered. I have always been intrigued by how light influences the experience of a space, and stained glass only elevates my interest as the shapes, colors, textures, and reflections transform a room. For me, the process of cutting, grinding, foiling, and soldering is meditative and requires complete presence of mind, which is invaluable in an increasingly busy world. I have a deep appreciation for traditional stained glass however, my goal is to make it accessible to a new generation by drawing inspiration from modern design, pop culture, and whimsy.” Check out all of these cool examples!
