What is SAGA?
SAGA was founded in 2019 by Falstaff Books publisher John G. Hartness after seeing a lack of genre-focused panels and presentations at most writing conferences. Patterned in part after the Superstars Writing Seminars created by Kevin J. Anderson, SAGA is the preeminent genre fiction writing conference east of the Mississippi.
Based in Charlotte, NC, SAGA operates with a dual-track mentality, because both skill in writing and business acumen are critically important to a professional writer. In short, it’s no good selling a thousand copies of your first book if it’s hot garbage and no one wants to read your second book, and it’s useless to write an amazing book that nobody ever reads. At SAGA, we give attendees the tools to write better books, and make more money by focusing on both the craft and the business of writing.
Our faculty includes professional editors, cover designers, marketing directors, and financial advisors, as well as successful authors. Past faculty has included New York Times best sellers like A.J. Hartley, Richard Kadrey, and Sherrilyn Kenyon, as well as award winners like Gail Z. Martin, John Hartness, and Jonathan Maberry.
